Poverty and chronic unemployment are caused by a constellation of issues--lack of education, single parenthood, history of addiction and incarceration, poor problem solving--that magnify one another and are repeated across generations. Women's Bean Project is a social enterprise that offers a transitional job in gourmet food manufacturing designed to provide immediate income, arrange support services to overcome barriers to employment, and teach the job readiness skills needed to get and keep a job. Since 1989, Women's Bean Project has helped women develop the work and interpersonal skills and address the basic needs required for moving up the path toward personal and economic self sufficiency. With this stepping stone toward success, the women will be able to support themselves and their families, and create stronger role models for future generations. The handcrafted nature of this product will produce minor differences in design and sizing. Subtle variations will occur from piece to piece, adding to its unique qualities.
